The Tourist series was developed while on sabbatical in 2011. Teaching in Cortona, Italy for the fall term, this work juxtaposing medieval formal design motifs with imagery associated with present-day mass tourism, reflects my interest in the impact that unchecked tourism can have on works of art, ancient monuments, and the sustainability of historic towns and cities.
